Situated in a rural hillside location with extensive views, this is an idyllic position from where you can enjoy the area at the gateway into the Peak National Park.

There are walks in nearby Dovedale and the Manifold Valley, cycling on the Tissington Trail, the pretty historic market town of Ashbourne and various country houses are nearby.
The converted barn retains many original features. As you enter the accommodation, which is totally open plan, on the ground floor, the kitchen area is to your right, and is fully equipped with all the essentials for your stay.

In the dining area, to your left, it is possible for 8 people to dine together. Beyond you have the comfort of the lounge area with flame effect electric stove.

The stairs lead to the first floor and the two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the second having two single beds. Both bedrooms are en suite, one with a bath, the other with a shower cubicle and power shower, both with hand basin and toilet.

Gardens and sitting out areas, with a sunny aspect for most of the day, are to the front of the accommodation, and are shared with the adjoining cottage.

This cottage is one of two cottages at the same location which can be booked together to sleep 8 people

We are extremely fortunate to be situated in the Peak District of Derbyshire an area renowned for its spectacular often dramatic scenery and outstanding natural beauty as well as providing a wonderful recreational resource for all types of pursuits The Peak District consists of two regions the White Peak and the Dark Peak Features of the White Peak include its beautiful flowerrich limestone dales such as Dovedale Lathkill Dale Bradford Dale and the Manifold Valley which were created at the end of the last Ice Age as the glaciers finally melted and in doing so carved magnificent rock architecture crags and pinnacles en route Most of the White Peak dales are narrow and intimate and are threaded by footpaths and ancient tracks so enticing the walker and avoiding road traffic thus providing a safer and more enjoyable environment Those with an interest in Geology may explore the harder limstones created on the edge of coral reefs such as Chrome and Parkhouse Hills in the Manifold Valley and Bunster and Thorpe Cloud in Dovedale which remain some of the real peaks which justify the name Peak District Fossils abound in the network of drystone walls which cover the area and on a grander scale where the limestone has led to the creation of an underground world of caves and caverns which can be enjoyed by visitors in the show caves of Buxton Castleton and Matlock Unique to this area is a semiprecious gemstone called Blue John examples of which can be purchased locally As well as dales and crags the plateau of the White Peak is a fascinating treasurehouse of ancient history which was permanently settled by people as long as 5000 years ago Remnants can still be seen of their presence especially in the many burial grounds known locally as lows which are found on the highest points of the landscape and other sacred sites such as stone circles Arbor Low Stanton Moor and Eyam Moor Coming a little more uptodate visitors may go to see the Plague Village at Eyam the great historic country houses at Chatsworth Haddon and Hardwick and the traditional welldressings which take place in many of the villages through the summer months For those who wish to remain firmly in the 21st century a short drive away is Alton Towers Britains premier theme park with its exciting and unique rollercoasters like Thirteen and Nemesis and another new one coming soon You can explore the ghostly ruins of Alton Castle enjoy a swim and spa at Splash Landings or simply stroll through the magnificent gardens Should theme parks not be your idea of relaxation you may enjoy a leisurely stroll around the nearby markets of Bakewell Leek and Ashbourne and the historic spatown of Buxton has many cultural delights to offer with its beautifullyrestored Art Deco Opera House Pavilion Gardens Festivals and Antique Markets as well as fine dining and highend shopping
