The Thistlecroft sits high on the side of the mountain at an altitude of 3,300 feet. The entire front and sides of the living room and dining room have large slide away windows which allow you to let the outdoors in. These windows provide you a panoramic view of the Blueridge Mountain Range and at the bottom of the mountain you can see the quaint little town of Burnsville. The downstairs floor has a covered deck which runs the full length of the home. The view you see at the top of this page is the view from that deck and from the upstairs living room. The walls and ceiling have been constructed of native North Carolina Hemlock which has been whitewashed to add even more brightness to the home.

This spacious mountain vacation home can comfortably accommodate up to 10 Guests with its 4 bedrooms, 2 modern fully equipped kitchens and 3 full baths. The downstairs bathroom has a jacuzzi tub. The abundant windows in this home provides you a panoramic view of these majestic mountains. There are four bedrooms. The upstairs master bedroom has a king size bed; this bed can be separated into two twins if necessary. The upstairs middle bedroom has a full size bed and the upstairs third bedroom has a twin trundle bed. The down stairs has a double bed in the bedroom and a double futon bed in the living room. There are three full bathrooms. The downstairs bathroom has a jacuzzi tub. All the beds have pillows and there are plenty of blankets and comforters. We provide all the bed and bath linens as well as all the dinnerware and cookware.

Enjoy the sunrise from the sitting area as you watch it slowly sweep over the distant Blueridge mountain peaks. You can't find a view any better without driving to the Blueridge Parkway and you have it in your very own home. The view is due south therefore both sunrise and sunset can be seen and on a clear day are quite spectacular. Star-gazing is equally spectacular.

Just down from the home about 100 yards is the ole Fire Tower Road. This winding, steep natural mountain road is perfect for hiking. It meanders for miles through the mountains. Pack a lunch and make a day trip exploring the mountains without having to drive to a trail head, its right at your front door.

The home is very private yet not secluded. You can get in your car, put her in neutral and coast down the mountain and drive directly to the Burnsville Town Square in about 5 minutes. Here you will find an assortment of antique shops, arts and craft shops a museum and both fast food and dine in restaurants. Perhaps you may just want to enjoy the peacefulness of the walking area located in the middle of the square.

Back at the Thistlecroft; enjoy afternoon tea on your private deck. Linger until the sky changes colors anticipating the setting sun. Do as little or as much as you desire. A perfect base location for N.C. explorations and snow skiing is just 40 minutes away at Wolf Laurel.
