Local Area DetailsGirona lies in an ideal position between the Pyrenees on one side and the Mediterranean on the other, about an hours drive from Barcelona to the south and France to the north, with the Pyrenees ski resorts only an hour's drive away. This is the heart of the Costa Brava. The city itself is a medieval treasure with its ancient Jewish Quarter, the houses on the river Onyar, built in the middle ages, Arab baths, Cathedral and Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants. It is also a modern city with facilities for golf, ski, night life and excellent bars and restaurants, both keener priced than other Spanish cities.
