Poseidon House is a luxurious beach house set in a beautiful and natural tropical garden, nestled on a secluded white-sandy beach on the picturesque north coast of Sabah, Malaysia, near the famous tip of Borneo. The house is atop of a 26 meter high rock outcrop with outstanding views of the Tun Mustapha Marine Park through the 60 foot sliding glass wall. It encompasses 35 offshore islands, coral atolls and crescent beach below. The house is enclosed in an exclusive and secluded 3.2 acre plot.
Poseidon House gives a true feeling that you are living in tropical Borneo with bejeweled butterflies, exotic birds, colorfully decorated insects, mischievous squirrels and all sorts of tropical flora and fauna.
The tropical rainforest garden stretches down to the private beach 80 feet below. Follow the flower lined winding path and you will find the front garden is at the center of one of the most diverse coral reef ecosystems in the world! With miles of pristine white sand to call your own, your only companions will be local fishermen casting their nets into the azure blue waters as generations before. You can walk the beaches to find shells or perhaps jog to the end of the mile long bay or just slip on your fins and mask and take a few strokes out to the stunning coral reef. Simply snorkeling will reveal a bewildering array of dazzling tropical fish, the occasional lobster and marine life as you would see in any diving magazine. If you are lucky you may see turtles graze near the shore or laying eggs along the 2 kilometer wide beach in front of the house. The boat house houses kayaks for you to explore the nearby deserted beaches.

The house itself is spacious, bright and airy, fully air conditioned with ceiling fans, and panoramic decks. Every room is lit by large, glass picture windows to make the most of the views out to sea.
It also has a great outdoor entertainment deck and barbeque, gourmet kitchen, elegant dining room, a lounge with satellite TV and surround sound stereo. There is a shady pool pavilion for quiet reflection, reading or a quiet drink. At night, the pavilion can be turned into a tropical sleep experience, with the warm sea and its waves gentle lapping on the beach below, lulling one to sleep, a feeling of tranquility and peace abound, as sea breezes drift across the estate. The 40 foot long natural rock swimming pool is the only one of its kind in Malaysia, with its infinity edge, serves to cool guests after a long day beach activities or local shopping.

Local Area Details

Kudat regional airport is 5 Kilometers away with Kota Kinabalu international airport 2hrs and 15min by road, or 40 minutes by regional flight. Chartered helicopters can also be arranged to pick you up from Kota Kinabalu and take you directly to Poseidon House as well as for island hopping. Local boats are also available for island hopping.

The house is situated on a beautiful and serene beach on the northern coast of Sabah, Borneo. It is 7 minutes from the local airport, 12 minutes from the golf course, and 15 minutes from the town of Kudat. Stunning, unspoiled, natural beaches abound offering beautiful walks along the quiet and romantic beaches fringed with coconut trees and blue sea. Many local restaurants can be found in Kudat town, from local Chinese, Malaya and Indian cuisine to International 3 star fare.
Local attractions: golf, snorkeling, diving, fishing, kayaking/canoeing, beach and jungle walks.
- Boat trips for snorkeling or fishing to the local islands off Kudat there are over 35 islands and atolls. Scuba diving can be arranged in Kudat, traditional local massage can also arrange by appointment only. Local fish and vegetable markets in Kudat have a wide selection of tropical fish and vegetables, a local food guide can be arranged for your tropical shopping experience. It’s golfers’ heaven in Kudat, with an 18 hole course at rock button prices. The club has its own open air and air-conditioned restaurant. You can bring your own wine, there is no corkage charge.
- For the more adventurous, Kudat is 2 hours away from the highest mountain in Malaysia, Mt. Kinabalu. 3 hours to Sipadan by flight and road, a world class diving resort. 2.5 hours to world class rafting on the Padas River. Kota Kinabalu is 40 minutes away by flight, or 2.5 hours by road with its world class Italian restaurants, shopping and night life.

There are two primary industries in Kudat, coconuts and fishing. Although coconut cultivation has almost died out, thousands of acres of magnificent coconut groves remain. A bicycle ride down the miles of winding gravel roads reveal some beautiful old wooden plantation houses built by the Chinese settlers a hundred years ago.

Fishing, on the other hand, is still ongoing. An early morning visit to the fish market to watch the traditional wooded boats come in and unload their catch is fascinating. Ocean fresh fish, octopus, squid, tiger prawns and small sweet scallops are so plentiful and cheap. It’s such fun to buy your dinner at the fish market, take it to your favorite local restaurant where the cook will be delighted to prepare it for you any way you chose.

Kudat has a fine 18 hole golf course and driving range, a few simple restaurants but evening entertainment is limited. It is easy to take the ferry service to the nearby islands for a day exploring. Within twenty miles of Kudat lie more 30 islands and atolls unexplored by tourists.

The climate is the perfect tropical mix of light trade winds and sunshine. The vegetation is lush and beautiful.

The “Tip of Borneo” is about 8 miles by sea or a 15 minute car drive from the villa, well worth a visit, with its rocky head land and 2 mile wide beautiful white sand beach.
