Local Area Details

The K Club has two Arnold Palmer designed 18 hole par 72 championship golf courses. The Palmer Course and Smurfit Course are considered two of
Ireland’s finest championship courses and have been designed to offer completely different experiences and challenges for golfers of all abilities. The Palmer course hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup and the Smurfit
course hosts the Smurfit European Open each year.

The Palmer Course:
If ever a golf course reflected the personality of its architect, it is surely this Arnold Palmer designed course. It may seem odd to describe a golf course as charismatic and cavalier but from the instant you arrive at the first tee, you are enveloped by a unique atmosphere. The Palmer Course is, quite simply, one of Europe’s most spectacular courses. It charms, it entices and invariably, brings out the very best in your
game. It is unlikely that you will be asked to tackle the course from the championship tees, but this should in no way diminish the excitement of pitting your wits against Arnold Palmer, for, in a sense, this is precisely what you are about to do.

The Smurfit Course:
The Smurfit Course at The K Club has already been described as probably the greatest inland Golf Course to be developed in Ireland. The best way to describe the Smurfit Course at The K Club is that of an inland links. However, its true attributes do not stop there. The Course has many dramatic landscapes with dune type mounding throughout. Coupled with this point, some fourteen acres of water have been worked into the design especially through the final phase of Hole No’s: 13 to 18.A watery grave awaits many a golfer on the home stretch.

K Spa:
The luxurious K Spa has world class facilities including ten designated suites and rooms that offer an extensive range of holistic natural
treatments and therapies. K Spa is the ideal venue for a workout in the
spacious fully equipped gymnasium with state of the art life-fitness equipment including treadmills, rowers, static bikes, cardio machines, free weights, strength machines and high tech audiovisual equipment. The Pilates and Yoga Studio hosts numerous stimulating group classes. K Spa’s

The Byerley Turk Restaurant:
Treat yourself to dinner in the elegant Byerley Turk Restaurant, acclaimed as one of the finest restaurants in the country. Rich brocade wall coverings, marble columns and lofty draped windows accent the award-winning dining room, its candlelit tables laid with crisp monogrammed
linens, Irish crystal and gleaming silverware. Savour a sumptuous French menu with a unique Irish interpretation using the finest fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit, some of which are grown in a private Victorian walled garden. Round it off with fine wines from a truly remarkable cellar.

Legends Restaurant:
Why not try the stylish Legends Restaurant in The Palmer Clubhouse, which offers a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the 18th green and lake. Golf memorabilia, cartoons and portraits are found throughout the Legends Bar and Restaurant. The Restaurant is open daily for both lunch and dinner,
offering European cuisine from an extensive menu.

The River Room:
Situated in the hotel, with a relaxed atmosphere and offering beautiful views overlooking the gardens and the River Liffey, the River Room is a casual, child friendly restaurant. The menu is traditional in style
with some K club favourites.

The Oriental:
Located on the first floor of the Smurfit clubhouse in delightful oriental style surroundings, this restaurant offers a blend of Asian Cuisine and finest Irish produce to create authentic oriental dishes for the western palate. Savour the flavours and textures of classic dishes such as Laksa Seafood, Grilled Prawns with lemon grass, Beef Rendang and steamed fish in Banana leaves.

Activities:

Clay Target Shooting:
A purpose built shooting layout has been erected for the guests of The K Club a short distance away. There you can avail of the different disciplines on offer plus the expert tuition from our trappers. 20 and 12 gauge shotguns are provided to suit both ladies and gents. The layout consists of Driven Bird, Down the Line, Springing Teal and combinations.
The K club also has a number of game shoots up and down the country which can be booked.

River Fishing:
The River Liffey has a natural stock of wild Brown Trout up to 7lb and boasts of great hatches of fly throughout the season resulting in very large bags of fish especially during the mayfly time of May through to July and afterwards on sedges. Salmon are also to be found particularly during the Autumn run.

Lake Fishing:
There are a total of 6 fishable lakes at The K Club, 3 of which are for coarse fishing, stocking Carp, Bream, Tench, Roach, and Perch amongst others and 3 fly/spinning lakes stocking Brown trout, Rainbow trout and pike.

Horse Riding:
Horse riding is available on nearby Abbeyfield farm, set on over 200 acres of picturesque Kildare countryside. Experience a relaxing horse ride, with top quality equipment & the highest standards of safety. Make use of a full array of over 40 horses to fulfil the needs of the first timers to the experienced rider. With quiet country lanes to full cross country courses. Plenty of enjoyment & supervision is provided at all times.
