A lovely holiday cottage situated near the seaside resort of Barmouth and surrounded by Snowdonia.

The name 'Tai Newyddion' means 'new houses', but they are actually 300 year old farm worker cottages and each one would have been occupied by whole, sometimes large families. Cottage 5 and cottage 6 became one property at least 35 years ago.

Tai Newyddion Cottage has been modernised to provide comfortable, cosy, self catering accommodation overlooking Barmouth and Cardigan Bay. Situated one and a half miles north of Barmouth on the Harlech road, it is surrounded by the outstanding natural beauty of the Snowdonia National Park.

The cottage is within walking distance (150m) of Barmouth's Blue Flag beach. The nearest footpath into the hills is only 60 meters away. The cottage is 1.5 miles from Barmouth town centre and is convenient for both bus and train connections.

Accommodating up to 4 comfortably, Tai Newyddion Cottage offers a year round, ideal location for a short break or a longer stay.

Tai Newyddion has a secluded garden to the side and rear including a sheltered patio area with views of the Irish Sea and Cader Idris mountain range.

One Double bedroom.
One Twin room.
Shower room including toilet and handbasin.

Garden:

The garden is approximately 200 square metres in size in an 'L' shape. Mature trees provide seclusion, and the elevated patio overlooks several flower beds and a large lawn. The patio also provides superb views of Cader Idris and Barmouth Bay.

The cottage is available from 4pm on day of arrival and visitors are requested to leave no later than 10.00am on the day of departure.

Electricity, gas and one basket of logs is included in the rent. Ample parking in front of cottage.
For the benefit of all users of the cottage, no pets are allowed.

We regret that access to the cottage is not suitable for the infirm or users of wheelchairs

Local Area Details

Barmouth and its lovely harbour is at the mouth of a magnificent estuary which is crossed by a famous railway bridge and footpath. It is surrounded by the dramatic scenery of Snowdonia and overlooked by "Dinas Olau"; the first land ever owned by The National Trust. The two miles of sandy beach has Blue Flag status, so you know you are safe.

This area of North Wales has a vast variety of historical and modern attractions catering for all tastes including Castles, Great Little Trains and Portmeirion.Old mine workings can be explored. these include Manganese(local), slate, copper and of course Gold. Why not go "panning" for gold; you may be lucky.

It is an ideal area for walkers and ramblers and the town even has a Walking Festival in September. Other events held include a Harbour Fun Day, Arts Festival, Kite Flying Weekend and a Country & Western Weekend.
