Luxurious Villa sleeps 10 a host to helpmod cons Turkey

Villa in Mediterranean, Turkey

Property Details

The villa is owned by Nick Friedlos and Julia Cooper and was built in 2005 for them and their young family.

The villa will be hosted for guests by Tina Eliades who is Nick and Julia’s partner in Exclusive Family Villas. Over the last few years Tina has built up a successful ski season childcare business in Val D’Isere in France, and now has contracts to provide nanny services to several of the well established British operators in the resort. She is therefore well used to understanding and meeting the needs of families on holiday.

We also use the support of Kalkan Home Management for running and maintenance of the house and for house-keeping services such as laundry, cleaning etc. The company is owned and run by Claire Underwood, who is English but lives permanently in Kalkan with her family. Claire provides strong local back-up to us.

The cost of the villa rental covers:

* Exclusive use of the villa for the period of your stay.
* Support from the host as described below.
* Provision of basics for breakfast (bread, milk, fruit, cheese, butter, cereal, tea and coffee).
* Laundry/daily cleaning.

The layout of the villa is described in detail in Floor Plans and Features.
Hosting Arrangements

Your villa host is there to give you help and guidance and also to assist you with some of the basic comforts of the holiday.

The intention is not to provide a “fully staffed” villa – but rather to provide a “light touch” help for your holiday.

In our experience flexibility is key and we want to remain reasonably flexible in how you work with your host, but we believe its important to define a basic package as is set out below.

* To supply the basics for breakfast every morning (bread, butter, spreads, fruit, milk, tea etc) and to be around between 8.00am and 10.00am to assist with the process and help clear/tidy.
* To cook two evening meals per week.
* To be available to babysit two evenings a week.
* To arrange for groceries to be delivered.

If you wish to modify this (more babysitting, different meals etc) this will be a matter to be agreed between you and your villa host.

Local Area Details

Things to do around Kalkan

There are numerous guide books to this part of Turkey and we highly recommend that you have a look through them. Lonely Plant is a good starting place.

We have highlighted below a few of the things that we have found most successful with our family.
Patara beach

– glorious fine sandy beach (i.e. not coarse, not pebbles but real soft sand) which stretches for 18 kilometres and has one beach café on it. The beach is part of a conservation area with archaeological sites, and is also the nesting ground for turtles and is therefore protected. It is about 25 minutes from the villa.
Kalkan

– originally a fishing port, this has now become a bustling small resort packed with bars, restaurants, gift shops etc. It is attractively set on a hillside leading down to its small harbour.
KAS

– this small port town is approximately 30 kilometres from Kalkan and takes about 40 minutes to drive from the villa. There are a number of tourists in Kas, but to our mind it has less of a “resort” feel to it than Kalkan and is a great place to visit.
Saklikent Gorge

– a great place to visit and see the gorge and the river. There is a gorge walk for those that fancy braving the river wade at the start. There is also rafting. The gorge is about 25 – 30 minutes from the house.
Adventure trips

– there are a number companies offering sailing, sea kayaking, diving, canoeing and walking trips. A good starting point is [TBC] in Kas – see above.
Boat trips

– there are numerous boat trips from Kalkan and Kas ranging from all day and/or overnight trips to small trips for an hour or so. For quite a reasonable price you can charter a comfortable motor boat early evening for a couple of hours to go out in the bay, have a swim and relax and come back in for dinner – a favourite with our family.

Notes
The villa offers luxurious accommodation set over three floors, with the added assistance of a host to help with cooking and babysitting at intervals throughout your stay. The villaBuilt in the mountains behind Kalkan in Turkey, the villa was built in 2005 to our specification with our own young family in mind - three children under five. It has fantastic living, sleeping, playing and relaxing space, and also has a fenced off pool. Being high in the mountains, it is 10 degrees cooler than on the coast – approximately 20 minutes drive from the fishing port/small resort of Kalkan, and approximately 25 minutes drive from the glorious Patara Beach. The villa has two double and three twin bedrooms, three bathrooms and a large kitchen/eating/living area. It is surrounded on three sides by a veranda and dining terrace, and also has a large terrace by the pool. The house is well suited to two families whilst still retaining some privacy since the sleeping accommodation is split over the ground and top floors. The house is very spacious and could actually accommodate more people. We would be happy to discuss the practicalities of this with you. Situation The villa is located in the village of Islamlar. It stands in its own plot of approximately 2,000 sq metres. It is secluded – other properties are dotted around the hillside – the nearest neighbour is approximately 200 metres away. There is a garage and plenty of space to park cars. There is extensive outside patio/terrace area running right round the house and including the pool. The house has a garden which is still maturing. Overall the ambience is very rural and secluded.
