Local Area DetailsLakes at Baza for fishing, swimming & thermal baths, Guadix historic centre, Velez Rubio, Lorca all within 40mins. Granada, Sierra Nevada, Castril, Jaen within 1hr30min. Very historic troglodite area, numerous small mountain villages to wander round beautiful churches and plazas. Very friendly people.Real local village markets for wonderful fresh produce.Coast 1hr15min to Aguilas 1hr30min Mojacar.Large swimming pool 10mins away with picnic area bar and food.This area is unspoilt and stunning, sheep & goats wander and eagles fly.
Additional InformationAbout WalkingPlenty of unrestricted walking on tracks through almond trees and farmland, mountains and woodland. Lots of areas of outstanding natural beauty to ramble throughs as well as some routed walks around lakes.Walks to suit all capabilities. Probaly the best times of year are spring and autumn as the temperatures can be very high midsummer.
About Local RestaurantsRestaurants range from sophisticated to rustic with the latter being the most popular and excellent value for money and meals are drawn out affairs, no rush here for anything. Prices are much cheaper than the costa's and children are very welcome everywhere.The Ventas along the side of the roads are very good value and plentiful.
About SkiingSki coaches during winter season leave nearby for sierra nevada.Approx 1hr15min drive to slopes by car.
About Scenery/Beauty SpotsScenery ranges from waterfalls and lakes to arid desert type regions with cactus and palms.Not forgetting the mountain ranges all around. Almond blossom is followed by red carpets of poppies and wild flowers with the smell of wild tyme and rosmary in the warm early summer air.Midsummer brings fields of grain ready to harvest and vines full of grapes.
About TransportIt is necessary to have a car to enjoy this area fully there is so much to see.There are coaches to Alicante, Granada and Malaga and points between. Roads are good and well maintained and signed.Drive to a location and then take to foot to see the architecture and views that can be missed by car.
