Luxurious villa with private 10 metre pool Spain

..

Apartment in Costa de Almeria, Spain

Property Details

This beautiful villa is located in an elevated position in the small, tranquil village of 'El Pinar', 12 kilometres inland from Mojacar Playa (beach). The village is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Los Filabres mountain range, 1,200 feet above sea level.

Extensive, panoramic views can be seen from inside the villa and from the upper terrace. There is a 180 degree view from the poolside and lower terrace and a breathtaking 280 degree view from the top sundeck, all overlooking the Mediterranean sea, mountains and valley.

Casa Colina has been built in a typically Spanish style with all accommodation on one level around a central inner courtyard for barbecues, to encourage outdoor living and relaxation in the sun. The only 2 stairways are those leading to the lower terrace/pool and to the top sundeck and therefore all accommodation is also easily accessible via wheelchair or for the elderly.

Views all around the villa are breathtaking and comprise views of the Mediterranean coastline, valley, mountain ranges and rolling hills.

The villa is elevated and therefore a cooling breeze from the valley below can be felt during the warmer periods. The numerous patio doors throughout ensure superb all-round views, a light and airy atmosphere and easy access to upper terracing, internal courtyard and private balconies. Stairway from upper terracing leads down to your own private pool with additional terracing, where sun loungers will comfortably accommodate 6 adults.

There are ample ceiling fans throughout the accommodation. In addition, the numerous glass patio doors throughout allow you to take full advantage of the cooling valley breeze during the warmer periods. The light and airy accommodation comprises: lounge with open fireplace and separate dining room, both of which have seating for 6 people. The fully-equipped kitchen and separate utility rooms have been generously equipped with utensils and microwave, oven/grill, fridge-freezer and washing machine. The 3 double bedrooms (1 double and 2 twin-bedded) have sea or country views and access to private balconies or main terracing. The 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite) have twin wash basins and showers. The additional guest's toilet has a small wash basin. A video, CD/tape player and satellite T.V. are provided for your use.

Built to a very high standard, with top quality fittings and ceramic floor/wall tiling throughout, this villa has been tastefully furnished and equipped to accommodate 6 adults (cot and highchair for infant can be arranged).

The villa has been furnished as a second home for the owners and therefore the majority of essential items, that one would normally take on holiday, will be available for your use, i.e. iron, ironing board, hairdryers, hand and bath towels (beach towels will not be supplied).

Outside there are 6 sunbeds and an abundance of patio tables and chairs, located in key positions.

Services:

English management will ensure:

Supply of fresh bedding and towels if stay is longer than 1 week.

Cleaning of pool on a regular basis.

Local Area Details

Local towns and villages, both inland and on the coast, include Vera, Los Gallardos, Bedar, Turre, Mojacar (village), Garrucha and Mojacar Playa (beach), where one can find an abundance of Spanish tapas bars, fresh fish restaurants, banks, supermarkets and nightlife.

There are many restaurants where you can choose anything from an authentic Spanish paella, right through to mushy peas and chips! Value for money and Spanish hospitality can be guaranteed in the many villages, such as Turre and Bedar and, although the service may be 'laid back', the Sangria is very good for building up one's appetite!

Nearby outdoor markets are held in Garrucha (fishing village) on Fridays and in Vera (large town) on Saturdays.

Medical services can be found in numerous local villages and we have found that form E111, available from Post Offices in UK, although not acceptable in some places, is very useful in this area.

Eating out is relatively inexpensive. A 3-course meal, complete with wine, can cost from as little as Euros 8.50 per head.

Sports - Golf, horse riding, pony trekking, tennis, squash, green bowling and go-karting are all available in the immediate area, approximately a 15-minute drive. On the 17 kilometers of beaches, which have been granted 3 blue European flags for their cleanliness, one will find wind surfing, water ski-ing, sea caneoing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, scuba diving, jet skis and, of course, the obligatory banana and sausage rides!

General Information:

The Village of El Pinar:

A beautiful small quiet village set in the Sierra Los Filabres some 1,200 feet above sea level. El Pinar was a copper and lead-mining village until mining ceased in the 1930's where it lay deserted until 1980. Gradually the old buildings were converted to homes and a number of new villas and houses were constructed.

Today, there are approximately 67 houses, which make up the village and these are spread over an area of approximately 1 square mile.

Main facilities, such as supermarkets, chemists, doctors, etc. are available at many nearby villages, located 5-15 minutes drive from the villa.

The village of El Pinar has no shops. However there is a friendly bar/restaurant, near the village square, within walking distance of the villa. The bar/restaurant, which was built around the old water deposit (now converted into a unique swimming pool), serves excellent bar snacks and has a varied A la carte menu, available at a reasonable price.

Being a hilltop village, a cooling breeze is assured in the afternoons and the raised position of the villa itself will also ensure coolness at night, making it possible to sleep in comfort during warmer periods.

El Pinar is becoming noted for its bird life - bird watchers will find many interesting species in the village, such as eagles, kestrels, sparrow hawks, hoopoes and bee-eaters. Protected species around El Pinar include the Moorish tortoise and horny toad.

During the day the occasional car or van might disturb the peacefulness of the village - but this could be the local baker delivering your freshly baked bread!

To the right of the village, in the distance, one can see the ancient Moorish village of Mojacar, perched on the foothills of the Sierra Cabrera mountains. A visit to Mojacar is well worthwhile, with its twisting narrow cobbled streets, old arches and domed houses, stacked one above the other. Mojacar has magnificent panoramic views overlooking the countryside and sea and is filled with superb restaurants, small privately owned boutiques, charming squares and intimate bars. Here all residential buildings are restricted to 2 storeys and hotels to 3 - you can see why the village is aptly named and famous throughout Spain as 'El Rincon del Embrujo', "The Corner of Enchantment".

Surrounding Areas:

The countryside around El Pinar is what some people would call 'Real Spain'. The towns and villages are Spanish in character and you are likely to see donkeys bringing sugar cane in from the fields and herdsmen walking their goats over the mountains. Local wildlife includes wild boar, genet, fox and weasel.

There are local markets catering for locals but there are also markets, which have sections and goods specifically for tourists.

The Mojacar area is Spain as it used to be; small villages in the hills (some with a small bar for drinks and tapas), orange, lemon, almond/olive groves and goatherds. This is a slow way of life that is disappearing.

Inhabited cave villages can also be found in various locations in the province of Almeria and there are prehistoric caves at Sorbas, as well as Roman and Moorish remains.

Granada and the Alhambra are about a 2-hour drive away, whilst Mini Hollywood (where Clint Eastwood made films like 'Fistful of Dollars') is 45 minutes away by car. Wild West shows are put on daily at the 3 'old' film-sets. Mini Hollywood has also recently opened a Safari Park.

There are opportunities for sightseeing both in the immediate area and further afield. There are spectacular views (and driving) on the roads from Mojacar to Carboneras and beyond to the mountain coastline of Cabo de Gata, offering secluded beaches and coves. In the other direction, towards Villaricos and beyond, there are numerous small coves and inlets with small beaches.

This area of Spain is the ideal destination for those of you who are seeking a peaceful holiday but is not suitable for those who like organised activities and a wide variety of nightlife. The major nearby towns provide the usual necessary amenities whilst the coastal area of Mojacar Playa boasts a nightlife that would satisfy most.

Almeria:

El Pinar comes under the province of Spain known as Almeria, located in the South East corner of Spain, bordering the provinces of Granada and Alicante. Unlike other popular holiday resorts it is still relatively uncommercialised and it is only in the last few years that touristic development has taken place. Almeria is one of the last refuges of unspoiled coastline!

The coast is the driest, warmest in Spain (most probably the best in mainland Europe), with an average rainfall of 11" and an average annual sunshine of 320 days. The sea temperature is warmer in winter than its air temperature, making swimming an all-year-round, enjoyable, activity. The overall annual average temperature exceeds 18oC, with the winter temperature rarely falling below 13oC.

Some consider the Costa Almeria as the cradle of Spain, due to the number of prehistoric finds - evidence of the occupation by various civilizations, such as the Romans, Greeks and Arabs.

The Almerian interior offers many geographical variations for exploration - coastal coves and inland desert areas. There are also picturesque national parks including the Santa Maria park in the north and the Sierra Nevada mountains natural park in the west of the province that it shares with neighbouring Granada.
