Cherry Tree Cottage is one of four cottages have been restored to provide
modern conveniences whilst retaining all the charm of a typical French farmhouse.

Leaving in lots of the original features, like granite walls and exposed oak beams.

A perfect place for all the family to unwind,
either by the pool or under a tree with a good book and a glass of wine.

Cherry Tree Cottage: (sleeps 6)

The ground floor consists of an open plan lounge/ kitchen /dining area, designed so the whole family can join in with the holiday.
It is a bright sunny room with 3 large picture windows, exposed oak beams, it also has a log burner in the lounge area. This is a comfortable, well equipped cottage for 6 people.
The 1st floor has a shower room and 3 bedrooms, 2 double rooms and
a room with bunk beds all have granite walls and exposed oak beams.
There is a separate patio at the side of the cottage, with garden furniture, sun canopy and a BBQ, this leads to the shared pool and patio area.

The Gardens:

La Basse Rouerie is a traditional Breton farmhouse and Longere that dates back 600 years in parts.
It has two and a half acres of gardens with open views over undulating farmland.
There is a private patio area for all 4 cottages which includes garden furniture, sun canopy and a BBQ.
Plus there is a communal patio area with a brick BBQ, the ideal place for parents to get to know one another, while the kids play. We have had many an enjoyable evening with a BBQ and a few drinks.

The above ground pool is made of teak to fit in with the surroundings in the orchard. It is heated and maintained at around 30-32 degrees. The pool is open from May - September.

The gardens are the ideal place to either relax by the pool, have a picnic under a tree, or just sit and read a good book while sipping a glass a wine.

There is a badminton net, swings, boules pit, swing ball, football net, and basketball net in the gardens, along with numerous games.
In the covered veranda area there is table soccer and a darts board.
The gardens are large and safe enough for children to play.

Just down the lane there is an 18 km Patrimoine walk through lovely countryside.

Local Area Details

La Basse Rouerie is located in a small village called Mellé, which is situated on the Brittany/ Normandy borders, and although we are in a quiet location, we are only 5 mins away from the village centre with its bar-tabac-restaurant-shop. And only 10 mins from Louvigne du Desert with its, shops, supermarkets and restaurants.

As we are situated on the border you can spend days on the magnificent beaches known as the Emerald coast, visit walled towns or just walk through the lovely countryside, something for everyone.
Mellé is about an hours drive from the port of St Malo, this is also an excellent place to visit, with a walled town and miles of sandy beaches. Just along the coast there is Cancale the oyster capital of France with excellent seafood restaurants and Dinard with its palm tree lined coastline.
Also within an hours drive you have the large towns of Rennes, Dinan and Domfront all worth a visit. Mont Saint Michel the 2nd most visited place in France after the Eiffel Tower is only half an hour drive. Half an hour will also take you to the walled town of Fougeres with its château, St Hilaire a lively market town and Mortain known for its water falls.
Just under a two hour drive will take you to the D-Day Beaches and the Bayeaux Tapestry.
Mellé is also only 10 mins away from the American War Cemetery at St. James.
Nearby are water and floral parks, walking and cycle paths, trout fishing , horse riding, canoeing and
kayaking and numerous places of interest to visit, something for everyone.
