Local Area Details

Mayapott Villa is located on a working cardamom plantation, in the Cardamom hills of Idukki district (the cardamom growing belt) of Kerala. Cardamom is a rain-forest crop -- grown under a tree-canopy, without removing any of the rain-forest giants. It is a half-hour drive from the town of Kumili, where one can buy spices fresh, at the local market. 4km. from Kumili town, is the Periyar lake, inside the Thekkady wildlife sanctuary. Boating on the lake to see wildlife is very popular among local tourists.
