Our properties were designed for the gregarious by nature. As "flies on the wall" we have observed with great pleasure the forming and cementing of numerous friendships over the odd glass of wine or three, while children of all ages meet new friends in the games room.
The cottages, with their splendid exposed beams and stone walls, all add to the character of Les Granges, but it's the ambience created by the Squash & Fitness Club that gives the place that certain "je ne sais quoi"

Les Granges
Nine cottages in a mews formed by two long XVIIth century stone barns with their original oak beams, which we have sympathetically renovated and converted over the years to form luxurious holiday accommodation adjoining our farmhouse. These all have the same open plan layout downstairs, measuring approximately 6m x 6m and comprise the following:
Lounge area with a three-piece suite, coffee table & TV point.
Fitted kitchen with oven & hob, ceramic sink/drainer, fridge/freezer, microwave; most with dishwasher and/or washing machine.
Dining area with farmhouse furniture.

Six Farmyard Cottages overlook the outdoor swimming pool, created in 2000 beneath an original XVIIth open stone hangar, combining the charm of old beams and stone walls with the advantages of modern building and design techniques.
All (except Menthe) measure approximately 7.2m x 4.6m, have exactly the same open plan layout throughout and overlook the fenced 2nd pool from the patio:
Lounge area with a six-seater corner suite, coffee table, TV point & built-in tiled dining area.
Fitted kitchen with self-cleaning oven, hob, ceramic sink/drainer, fridge/freezer, microwave. Washing machine, Dishwasher.
Patio area with parasol, table & chairs B-B-Q.

Out of Season Bargains
During school holidays, Les Granges caters largely for families with children. On the other hand, if you are not absolutely tied to school holidays, then Spring, Autumn and early or late Summer offer exceptional value with many of the following added advantages:

Local Area Details

Indoor/outdoor heated & floodlit pool, paddling pool & spa bath
The pool, paddling pool and spa are covered by a specially commissioned state of the art sliding structure, thus ensuring all year round use even in winter.
Fitness Gym
Open all year round, our fitness gym is well equipped and is managed by our qualified fitness instructor, Emilie, who will be happy to devise a personal programme for those of you who wish to start that 'get fit' regime you promised yourself this year. Emilie also runs regular fitness classes, including aerobics, step, 'tums & bums' etc., with the added bonus that you will meet some of our local members and practice your French! A quick shower after the early morning workout and into the spa bath!
2 Glass-back Squash Courts
We transported a second hand squash court to Les Granges on a whim in 1993. In 2002 our son was a member of the French National Junior Team which won the bronze medal (u-15) in the 2002 European Championships and again in 2004 (u-17). Our daughter has been French Junior Champion twice (u-11 and u-13). Even the 'old man' scraped through to the finals of the French Open Veterans championship in 2000. March 2004 saw the arrival of our 2nd court. Perhaps our enthusiasm will persuade you or your children to discover or even re-discover one of the finest small ball sports ever devised.
2 Table Tennis tables
Table tennis is huge in France and anyone who saw it being played in the 2004 Olympics can't doubt that, played under the right conditions it's an exciting & demanding sport. Our tables are perfectly positioned and lit to give optimum playing conditions. At the same time we like nothing more than seeing Mum and Dad teaching 'Ping-Pong' to their children.
Fun Tennis
Not interested in Squash? Fun tennis is perfect for players of all ages and standards from tiny tots to senior citizens. Our court is covered and floodlit.
Tiny Tots' Den
A safe place for under-7s to play while older membes of the family play pool or air hockey or…

Bar & Restaurant
We open Snails Place whenever there is sufficient demand. Cheerful smiling faces behind the bar, excellent draught beer ('pression'), a range of excellent organic wines by the glass or bottle and good wholesome food - just the ticket!

Go through the double doors from Snail's Place and you will find yourself in our 'Salle de Fêtes', a vast stone barn recently renovated and equipped for seminars, residential courses, family celebrations, kids' discos, Tai Chi, Shiatsu...... The list is as long as your imagination.
When it is not being used for functions it hosts art and photography exhibitions and serves as a peaceful place in which you can read the newspaper, drink a coffee, escape from the kids...
Cash & Carry Organic Wine
At great personal cost and no little pain, We have bravely toured France (or that part we can stagger round in a day) and tasted numerous organically grown wines. Some were frankly filthy, others superb. We've tried to select the latter.
No more chemi-wine that gives you a headache the morning after!

The fruits of our labour are subjected to a wine tasting at Snail's Place most Wednesdays (different wines each other week). Kids under 18 are welcome, they just can't take part in the tasting. The bad news is that we have no spittoon, so you will be forced to swallow what you taste!

If by chance you should happen across a wine that you like enough to buy please feel free to do so. There is a 10% discount for unopened cases.

Please note any of the wines on the tasting list can be drunk with your meal at the take-away price when you dine at Snail's Place on wine-tasting night on the condition that you have participated in the wine-tasting.

This year, spurred on by the success we have had with our organic wine concept (we sell literally 1000s of bottles just in July and August), we are starting a cash & carry operation called Ten Green Bottles, so that holidaymakers, even if they aren't staying at Les Granges, can drop in on the way to their destination and buy a case containing a selection of single bottles at the full discount price. On their way back home they can phone ahead and order full case of their favourites to drink at home.
Really exceptional French organic wine with no nasty chemicals. All personally selected (and continuously drunk!) by us and all at low, low prices.

The individual cottages which form part of Les Ecuries are available now for purchase freehold, with earliest completion taking place in October 2006, after the coming letting season.

The new owners can retain their cottages for their own personal use, or they can enter into an agreement with us whereby we let and manage their property on their behalf during the season.

Following a successful exhibition at Olympia a large scale model of the final phase of our project will be available to view here at Les Granges from March 2006 - take advantage of our special short breaks offer to come and see for yourselves.
