Local Area Details

"Villa Charmante" sits on a hill side facing south with glorious views of the perched medieval village of Claviers and the hills beyond.
Many of the budget airlines now fly to Provence. Nice is a major international airport but very simple to get in and out of. It is a pleasant 1 hour drive from the villa. Marseilles Airport is 1½ hours. From Calais or Caen allow a 10 hour drive.
Take a stroll to the village for the bakery, grocers, post office, restaurant, bar and boules or a short (5km) drive across the valley to the larger village of Bargemon (recently voted one of the prettiest villages in France), which has more shops restaurants and a bank. The larger town of Draguignan (20 mins) has hypermarkets, etc. Golf, wine tasting, tennis, riding and rambling are all available nearby. The villa has been built using many traditional materials. Ancient beams, terracota floor tiles and antique wooden doors have been incorporated throughout. It is a villa of great charm and character, but with all the modern conveniences.


Excursions

Enjoy Provencal Cooking, superb wine and the rich warm scenes that inspired Van Gogh and Cezanne. Lac St. Cassien for all water sports (25 minutes). The spectacular Gorges Du Verdun- Europe's Grand Canyon (30 minutes). The famous beaches and resorts of the Cote d'Azur, lavender fields and pretty hill top villages such as Eze, Tour Tour and Chateaudouble. Further afield, the magnificent Roman ruins of Avignon, Orange and the Pont du Gard aqueduct.

Or simply take a 2½ km walk from the villa to the Chapel of St. Anne high on the hill above for magnificent views of Claviers, Callas, Bargemon and the surrounding countryside.
