The Parque Natural Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Criss-crossed with ancient paths, some dating from Roman times, the area is a green oasis even during the hot Andalusian summer. The MolinoR ío Alájar is an ideal point from which to explore this magnificent region.

The houses, built of local stone, stand on raised ground on the right bank of the river, commanding views over the valley and surrounding hills. All six houses have television and telephone and are deocrated in authentic Spanish style with comfort and relaxation as a priority. The large houses have fireplaces and under-floor heating.

There is a swimming pool among the oaks and a spacious communal room with a sitting and dining area in front of an open fireplace.

Local Area Details

The charming white villages surrounding Alájar have hardly changed since the last century and the hills of the Sierra de Aracena are ideal for walking, horse-riding or cycling. Some of the many local sights are the Gruta de las Maravillas, an amazing limestone cavern open to visitors year-round, Almonaster, a village with a medieval mosque and Río Tinto, an area that has been mined since before the time of the Romans.
