Le Vallat is situated just five minutes' walk from the centre of Mormoiron, this delightful garden apartment for two is a new conversion which is completely independent of the owners' property with its own entrance,drive and parking area. The spacious private garden has shade trees, a herb garden and splendid views across to the Monts de Vaucluse.
The tasteful accomodation comprises a double bedroom with queen-sized bed, wardrobe and dressing table.
Living room with comfortable seating as well as a dining table and chairs. TV/VCR, radio and CD player.
Fitted kitchen area incorporating washing machine, fridge/freezer,halogen hob unit and full-sized fitted cooker.
Bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC.
The living area gives on to a large patio with outdoor dining furniture, deckchairs, parasols and a barbecue. A pool house separates the garden from the owners' large pool,to which access is completely unlimited. There are numerous loungers around the pool and the large open pool house creates added shade for those who wish to escape the sun. Although the accomodation has its own private garden,clients are free to make use of the owners' large garden as well.
Mormoiron
First mentioned in chronicles in 1204, and reputedly once occupied by the Moors, Mormoiron is a village of nearly 1600 inhabitants situated 15km east of Carpentras and roughly 10km south of Mont Ventoux. The heart of the village is a warren of narrow passages ascending to the church, and the older surviving medieval buildings include a large stone dwelling formerly associated with the Templars.
The village is very well equipped with shops and services: two butchers, two bakers, a small supermarket, pharmacy, café, newsagent/tobacconist, bank, post office, two restaurants, florist, two garages, two hairdessers, doctor, dentist and physiotherapist. Local Côtes du Ventoux is available from the Mormoiron wine co-operative and from numerous independent producers on the outskirts of the village. There is also a small market of local produce on Sunday mornings (except in winter). Two larger villages, Bédoin and Mazan, are 7 and 6km away respectively. Each has a larger choice of shops and cafés, as well as banks with ATM.
Ten minutes' walk from the village is a clean lake with sandy beaches (and safe for swimming), with a restaurant during the summer months.
Local Area DetailsThe area is dominated by the 1992-metre Mont Ventoux, the "Géant de Provence", inspiration for poets from Petrarch onwards, and the scene of legendary exploits in the Tour de France. The Mont Ventoux is also host to a unique ecosystem, making it an important site for biologists and a delight for all nature-lovers.
Topographically, however, this is more than mere mountain country, with landscapes ranging from the ochre cliffs of Roussillon to the celebrated hilltop villages of Gordes and Séguret, from the Gorges de la Nesque to the lavender fields of the Plateau de Sault and the cherry orchards on the plain around Carpentras.
And, of course, there are the celebrated vineyards of the lower Côtes du Rhône: Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueras, Rasteau and Cairanne, among many others. Or the increasingly well made wines of the Côtes du Ventoux and the Côtes du Lubéron.
This wonderful area is particularly good for walking,cycling and visiting historical sites but also for the less strenuous activities of dining in one of the many excellent restaurants or tasting a few glasses of wine at one of the many first class wineries in the area which cover the wines of Côtes du Rhône and Ventoux.
