Eastmere is a self-contained timber bungalow annexe with its own front door, with parking for two cars. It is situated in a quiet area in a country lane near the Downs - between Arundel and Chichester, 6 miles from Bognor and 22 miles from Brighton.

It is well decorated, furnished and fully equipped. The living room has a settee, easy chairs, dining table and chairs, cool-air fan, colour TV and video recorder.

In the kitchen there is a wide range of utensils, new cupboards and work surfaces, stainless steel sink, a 4 cu.ft. Refrigerator, separate 2 cu.ft. Freezer, microwave, Creda electric cooker, automatic washing machine and access to a tumble dryer.The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment (no enclosed shower), hand basin and WC. There are three thermostatically controlled heaters, if needed, and a payphone. We cannot accept pets and stipulate "no smoking� in the bungalow. Bed linen, pillows, duvets and towels are provided. Electricity is not included in the price quoted.

Children are welcome. There is a west-facing area with bench seat, a wide gate with netting securing this gravelled area - making it safe for young children. As cars can speed along this straight section of country lane, we can provide a 'stairgate' barrier for the front door. We can also supply a cot, high chair and garden furniture.

Neighbours are my husband Bernard, grandma and myself also, known as 'Woody'. Neighbours, some distance to the west, are 16 racehorses in well tended stables. Stable staff may be seen working and riding.

The accommodation is suitable for handicapped or elderly people who can manage a 3-inch step and standard width doors within the bungalow. Outside the ground is level.

Local Area Details

There are numerous places to visit. Families have recommended the West Beach at Littlehampton and West Wittering. You can request useful booklets from the Arundel Tourist Office, High Street, and Arundel: one is called "Places to Visit" (ask for Arun, Chichester and/or West Sussex areas). Tourist Offices issue a diary of local events.

A major attraction is Arundel with its quaint shops and castle. There is a variety of gardens with extensive lawns for children to run - Parham, West Dean, Uppark etc. Many of our visitors visit the Victory, Mary Rose and other ships at Portsmouth.

Some visitors walk, drive or cycle (ask us about cycle hire) on and around the South Downs - with wonderful views high up on the South Downs Way. (Ordnance Survey Explorer Maps show rights of way and tourist information: nos. 120 Chichester and 121 Arundel and Pulborough).

We have listed our recommendations for at least 20 country pubs for meals, all with gardens - within 1 to 10 miles! There are 6 golf courses locally. Retail plant nurseries abound, due to the sunny location of Bognor. We provide a leaflet information file for your use.

Sainsburys is 4 miles, on A27 on route to Chichester; Tesco is 4 miles on route to Bognor. Eastergate and Walberton have well stocked village stores. Walberton with its village church and pond, is a delightful Sussex village at the east end of Eastergate Lane.
