The Grist Mill is a restored historic mill, circa 1850, located just 2 miles off Interstate 91 on a 70 acre Christmas tree plantation. It lies between the Connecticut River on the east and the Skitchewaug mountain to the west. Our private dock in the river is within a few hundred feet of the Mill. We provide a canoe, a rowboat, life jackets and lots of tubes for river fun. There is very little traffic on the road--a safe but exciting place for children with lots of things to do in the immediate area. Nearby ski areas include Okemo, Ascutney, Magic, Stratton, Bromley, Sunapee, Suicide Six and Killington which are all within an hour's drive.
Local Area DetailsThe Springfield village center is about 5 miles away and has a supermarket, a hospital, several banks, restaurants and other shops. More extensive shopping may be found in Claremont, NH, 20 minutes away. The farm is also within easy reach of Hanover, NH, the home of Dartmouth College, where cultural activities take place throughout the year. Nearby is the Montshire Museum, in Norwich, VT, noted for its hands-on exhibits for children. We have two golf courses and 5 ski areas within easy driving distance. This is an important tourist area and a great location since noting in Vermont is more than two hours away. The Atlantic Ocean and Boston are less than 3 hours away.
