Watermouth Cove Cottages are set in the tranquil grounds of Watermouth Castle, 200 yards from the sea on the stunning North Devon coast. Self-catering facilities include dishwasher and microwave. All cottages have night storage heaters included in the tariff and the majority have log-burning stoves for those cosy, romantic evenings. Four-poster beds are an additional feature.
There is a hot tub jacuzzi in a pretty half acre garden with patios and barbecues. Most cottages have their own patio and sleep from 2 to 8 people. Pets are welcome and Watermouth Cove offers direct access to the South West Coastal Path and the Tarka Trail.


Watermouth Cove Cottages are an ideal base from which to explore either, the dramatic scenery of North Devon and Exmoor or, the attractions of the seaside ranging from the rocks and rock pools of Watermouth Cove to the wide sandy expanses of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton beaches.

Our largest cottage, Smugglers Cove offers lovely views of the castle and lake. The three bedrooms can be configured to one double [with four-poster] and two twins or two doubles and one twin. Plus in a separate spacious lounge with log fire, there is a double bed settee. Special winter rates for couples, hot tub jacuzzi in pretty half acre garden and well-behaved pets welcome. Smaller cottages available.

Local Area Details

Within ten minutes walk there is a local pub and the picturesque village of Berrynarbor is also close by. Ilfracombe and Combe Martin are within a few miles and bustling Barnstaple is just 20 minutes drive away.Watermouth Cove Cottages are an ideal base from which to explore the dramatic scenery of North Devon and Exmoor.

There are many family attractions including The Big Sheep, Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, North Devon Farm and even The Eden Project is only a two hour drive. The coast is ideal for families and dogs [all beaches allow dogs in certain regions all year round] ranging from the rocks and rock pools of Watermouth Cove to the wide sandy expanses of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton beaches.

Within a mile of Watermouth people can enjoy long coastal and woodland walks, fishing – sea, fly and course, swimming and playing golf. Boats can be parked at Watermouth Harbour and use made of the slipway. Surfing is becoming the main sport and kite flying.

Within just a few minutes drive there is horse riding, karting and diving. There are numerous arts and craft shops, museums and railways. Exmoor is also a haven for wildlife where visitors may see the famed wild ponies, red deer and birds of prey - you can even take a safari. Exmoor is also Lorna Doone country and you can visit many places described in R D Blackmoor's tale.

North Devon is great for families with so much to see and do.
