LOCATION: Situated on the south coast and only a 15 to 20 minutes from the airport, Son Bou is one of Menorca's most loved resorts, and has without doubt the best beach on the whole island. Son Bou also boasts a large protected saltwater wetland nature reserve, where many species of bird and wildlife can be found.

San Jaime is a good sized complex featured by several UK tour operators boasting it’s many facilities - 3 pools, 2 bars, 2 restaurants, a small sound-proofed disco, live entertainment, shops, playgrounds, laundry facilities, tennis courts, and also a water park and maze (which carry a small charge).

ACCOMODATION: Our Apartment is located on the 1st floor, and has 2 bedrooms (sleeping 4 persons) plus a sofa-bed in the living area which can take a 5th person. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated, equipped with fans and a hairdryer, with the master bedroom leading out onto the rear balcony with side-view across the nature reserve to the sea.
There is a full bathroom, and a small but well-equipped kitchen area with a full-sized fridge-freezer and cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster etc...

The dining area has a table & chairs, and the living area is complete with tv/dvd and cd player. The kitchen, living and dining space is open plan, leading out to a large balcony with patio furniture at the front of the apartment, which overlooks a small children's playground area.
Having undertaken some refurbishment work for the 2005 season, we have tried to bear in mind the needs of families with babies and younger children, as we know how much extra luggage this can mean! The apartment now has it's own good quality travel cot, changing facilities, steam steriliser, clip-on highchair, and a small selection of books, games and dvds that are suitable for children and adults alike. The nearest complex pool and bar/restaurant are about 100-150m away

Local Area Details

SON BOU: The resort commercial centre of Son Bou is 5-10 min's walk away, and is fairly compact - with approximately 20 bars & restaurants, a supermarket and enough shops for all your day to day needs, including shops ranging from the usual holiday necessities like buckets & spades to designer outlets. You will also find a supermarket, chemist, medical center, car hire and money exchange etc. The commercial centre is not huge, but offers more than enough to keep everyone entertained.

THE BEACH: Son Bou beach is the largest on the island, it is backed by a salt water nature reserve which runs almost the full length of the beach. Behind the reserve is the San Jaime complex, so walking to the beach takes about 10 min's. Son Bou beach has every facility needed for the lazy beach side holiday, including. Beach bars with loos, Parasols and sun beds for hire, Pedalos and canoes, Banana boat rides and Water skiing.
With the beach being over two Kilometers in length it is large enough so that you can always find the room to spread out if you have a family, ideal if you have one of those beach tents for the little ones.
And don't forget to take your bits of dry bread to the beach to feed the ducks. Yes Ducks because of the nature reserve, being a wetland area all year round it has a healthy population of ducks...so although it sounds a bit crazy it is good fun!
