Our Gites are situated in the peaceful rural village of Champagné les Marais which has a pharmacy, bakers, mini market, 2 banks, post office, tobacconist, 3 restaurants and bars all within 2 - 5 minutes walking distance from La Frèrie

The Cottages which are renovated to a high standard from an ancient barn have original high ceilings with exposed beams and stone walls. They are very comfortably furnished, bright and clean, with modern kitchens and decoration .
The gites Le Sorbier or Le Sapin Blanc have each a double bedroom, a large bedroom ( 3 beds), shower / wc, A lounge with sofa bed and DVD and Video Players.
A fully equipped kitchen / diner including fridge, and full size gas cooker.

Electric heated radiators throughout (for off season lets)
There are clothes washing and drying facilities available for guests use as well as a room with a pool table .
From the lounge, french doors lead you on to a large communal lawned garden ( for guests use ) which is bordered by fruit trees ( cherry, apple, prune , plum, apricot )

Each Cottage has it's own small private patio with garden furniture, table & chairs, lounger, hammock and BBQ.

There is also a small communal above ground cooling off pool, a table tennis and boules court for you to use.

Your cars can also be safely parked right outside your gite ( 2 cars each gite )in our enclosed front garden.

We regret that smoking is not permitted inside the gite.

Local Area Details

We are in the South West Vendée in the beautiful National Park 'Marais Potevin' which is an area rich in history and culture. It supports a mini-climate similar to the South of France. The weather is good from April to September and can be good in October. We have about 2400 hours of sunshine a year.

The cathedral town of Lucon (8 mins car) has all types of shopping,
3 Hyperkets ( LeClerc, Hyper U, Intermarché)Dozens of cafés / bars
Many restaurants including Chinese and Pizza.

LaFrerie offers the holidaymaker an ideal base from which to visit many nearby attractions.
Only 20 / 30 minutes approximately of gentle driving lies the superb Atlantic coast with it's miles and miles of soft sandy blue flag beaches.
Within easy reach 15 miles (25 minutes drive by car) is the magnificient ancient port of LaRochelle and the medieval town of Fontenay le Comte.

From the magnificent ancient port of LaRochelle head north west along the Atlantic coast with it’s miles of safe golden beaches then inland to the capital of the Vendée LaRoche sur Yon with it’s monuments and shopping malls. Locally only 5 miles away (7 minutes by car) is the cathedral town of Lucon with it's hypermarkets, cafes and restaurants.

1000 canals for riverbank fishing stocked with many varieties of fish including Carp.This is an anglers paradise.
