Mike Matthews your host at Beaufort Guesthouse Adelong discovered the town and the surrounding magnificent scenery of the Riverina Highlands and Snowy Mountains when travelling Australia with the Moscow Circus on tour some 20years ago.
He decided then that if he ever needed a “tree change� Adelong was the small town in the country he could live in and the rest is history.
Some 10 years ago he bought one of the old hotels in Adelong and renovated the establishment into an elegantly understated guesthouse which has become a country retreat specialising in Special Packages including Christmas in July / August and Christmas House Parties.

Adelong is set in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains along the winding Adelong creek. The history of Adelong is diverse and long.

Whilst in Adelong don't miss the historic township walk. A short walk (one hour) which takes in many famous buildings and local history. Also close to town (5 minute drive) is the Adelong Falls Reserve and Richie's Gold Battery.

The surrounding Snowy Mountains region features one of the largest construction projects ever undertaken, the Snowy Mountains Scheme. The largest park in New South Wales, the Kosciuszko National Park, is another popular year-round tourist destination in the Snowy Mountains.

There is a marked drive, Tourist Drive 5, that takes in a large part of the local area and includes the High Country and the Yarrangobilly Caves. For a shorter drive you might like to visit Wagga Wagga which is just over an hour away. If you are looking for a really short drive or would like to pick up some of the famous local fruit then maybe the Batlow tour would better suit.
