The small apartment complex has a communal swimming pool & children's play pool (summer months), set in secure, walled grounds with trees & shrubs. The apartment is just 300 metres from the beach and 200 metres from the nearest shops, bars, cafes & supermarket. Roquetas harbour & yacht club, with superb seafood restaurants, are nearby.
Local Area DetailsAlmeria province is said to have the warmest climate and the lowest annual rainfall in Spain, making Roquetas a popular, year-round resort.
The Moorish influence is still evident in parts of the old town, balanced by the facilities and comfort required of a modern tourist destination. The town is very flat, with a wide pedestrian promenade running the length of the 10km beach. Building is strictly controlled, to avoid the high-rise development seen on neighbouring coasts.
The long beach is never crowded. Open shower facilities are provided at regular intervals. Sunbeds & parasols are available for a small daily fee. During the summer, watersports are available, including windsurfing, jetskis & sailing. There is a large municipal tennis centre, a popular waterpark and excellent golf facilities at Playa Serena, all within a 5-minute drive of the apartment. Bordering the resort on the south-west is a large, protected nature reserve & bird sanctuary.
The ancient city of Granada (with the beautiful Alhambra Palace) and the ski-slopes of the Sierra Nevada are within a 2 hour drive.
