Villa Margaz is a tranquil summer retreat standing at an altitude of 500m in the midst of luscious olive groves and grapevines. The house has been built in the traditional Turkish farmhouse style. It´s thick natural stone walls provide a cool and pleasant environment. The spacious covered loggia provides spectacular views over the lush green mountains to Patara Beach and the Bay of Kalkan. The terrace opens to a large private garden. The interior design of the house has been kept comfortable and cosy. All rooms are spacious with high ceilings. As the summer heat in Turkey can be intense, floors throughout are cooling ceramic tiles with all walls a soothing white. Furnishing the house with comfortable furniture, the owners have made an inviting oasis. The L shaped lounge and dining area has 2 Ottoman style sofas, an open fireplace and a green granite dining table which seats 6. On cool winter evenings the room can be heated with an art deco style wood burning stove. The semi open kitchen is fully fitted with all modern appliances. An internal hall leads to 2 double bedrooms and 2 modern bathrooms, 1 with shower and 1 with bath/ and shower, both tiled in black.
Local Area DetailsThe villa is situated in the green mountain village of Uzumlu, a 12 minute drive from the lively and picturesque holiday resort of Kalkan with it's up-market restaurants, bars and chic boutiques. Patara Beach, one of the world's finest beaches can be reached in 10 minutes and consists of 10 miles of pristine golden sands backed by impressive dunes and pine forests not forgetting the stunning ruins of the ancient Roman capital, Patara. Other excellent swimming oportunities are at the fantastic, Kaputas Beach (just 2 1/2 miles from Kalkan and the numerous Beach Clubs, some of which are accessible by boat only. Villa Margaz is also ideally sited for those wishing to walk The Lycian Way (directly through Uzumlu) or exploring the ancient towns nestled in The Taurus Mountains and the famous Saklikent Gorge and the unspoilt coastline of SW Turkey.
