Local Area DetailsThorndon, which is directly attached to Wellington Parliament district, is the oldest suburb in New Zealand. Charming wooden houses from the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century form this historic suburb. It is a local community where people enjoy that they live only some walking minutes away from the central business district. Thorndon offers a good mixture of shopping, dineout and recreation facilities, which makes Thorndon to a lovely suburb. Wise politicians ages ago decided that here in Thorndon should be the place for the Premiers House which is still here as well as a couple of embassies.
