Burgate Farmhouse is situated about half a mile north of Fordingbridge town centre It is just a 5 minute drive from the edge of the New Forest & near the A338 Ringwood to Salisbury road, making it an ideal central location for touring.

The farmhouse is a picturesque 15th century thatched property - once a genuine farmhouse - now a Grade II listed building. The 2 cottage wings available for self-catering holidays are each self contained and can be booked individually or together (although they do not connect). Both cottages have colour TV, video player, CD/radio cassette player, microwave as full size cookers & are beautifully appointed with a homely feel. There is a games barn with a skittle alley, pool table, table tennis, dart board and many children's toys.
Your mountain bikes can be stored in the Games Barn when not in use.
There is plenty of space for parking on the large gravel area between the cottages & the garden. The half acre garden is mainly lawn & trees & has a summer house, garden furniture, swings & BBQ for guests' enjoyment. there is also an area for children's ball games.
There is no charge for bed linen, cot or high chair. Well behaved dogs are welcome at a small charge. Electricity is by meter. There is a payphone in a genuine old red 'phone box. A small charge is made to use the washing machine & tumble drier.
Little Thatch sleeps 2-4. It is all on the ground floor. The bedroom is twin bedded. Further sleeping for 2 people is provided by the bedsettee in the very large lounge. The new bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom & has a bath with shower over & a washbasin. There is a separate toilet. the kitchen is newly fitted & well-equipped with microwave, full size cooker, fridge/freezer etc.
Wishing Well sleeps 6. There are 3 upstairs bedrooms along with a bathroom with shower over the bath & washbasin. The toilet is separate. The master bedroom has a double bed, single bed & colour TV. The middle bedroom is twin bedded & the 3rd bedroom is bunks (full size with proper mattresses).
Downstairs is the newly fitted kitchen with microwave, full size cooker, fridge/freezer etc. There is also a breakfast bar with 4 stools.
The lounge/dining room leads off from the kitchen. There is seating for 6 & a dining table/chairs, coffee tables, colour TV/video player.
Free broadband wifi access is available for your laptop.

Local Area Details

100 yards away is the Tudor Rose Inn - a lovely old thatched pub serving good meals & snacks (children welcome). There is also a high class restaurant within walking distance.
Fordingbridge Town Centre is just half a mile away. The George Inn, near the bridge has a beer garden overlooking the River Avon & is recommended for meals & snacks.
Fordingbridge is a traditional riverside town situated on the edge of the New Forest, with the River Avon flowing under the town's graceful bridge. It is surrounded by a group of diverse villages such as Breamore, Woodgreen, Godshill & Rockbourne to the north, south east & west. Cranborne Chase is just a few miles away.
The New Forest is a region of exceptional natural beauty, with large open heaths, moors, greens, leafy glades & dells interspersed with woods & plantations, picturesque streams & brooks, peaceful old villages, ancient churches & quaint houses & pubs.
The Avon Valley is a popular fishing area. The Avon Valley Footpath is very close by. Just over the road is a lovely stretch of it which goes over a foot suspension bridge, through water meadows & into the New Forest.
The well-known coastal resort of Bournemouth is only 17 miles south. The city of Salisbury is just a few miles away with excellent shopping, a weekly market & its famous cathedral. Other historic sights include Breamore & Wilton Houses & Stonehenge.
Other places of interest include Beaulieu (Abbey Ruins, Palace House & the National Motor Museum), Bucklers Hard Maritime Museum & Exbury Gardens.
Fishing, golf & horse riding are all available. There are indoor & outdoor swimming pools at Sandby Balls Holiday Village which is nearby. Moors Valley Country Park, near Ringwood is highly recommended.
