This 2 bedroomed cottage comfortably sleeps 5. There is a bathroom and a kitchen /living room. The kitchen contais a fridge, cooker, washing machine and tumbledryer. There an open fireplace but oil fired central heating is also available. All utensils, saucepans and kitchen ware is provided as is all the linen. A cot, hairdryer and iron are also available.
Local Area DetailsClare has 11 golf courses ranging from world - renowned seaside links to parkland courses, providing a variety of challenges to any handicap. Most are playable all year round. The 18-hole championship course at Lahinch has the "Klondyke" and the "Dell" holes, numbered among the most famous in golf. There are many coastal walks in the area which take in spectacular scenery. Increasingly popular walking routes can be followed on an organised basis. Walks, varying from one day to one week, are marked out with distinctive pointers. Detailed charts and information pamphlets are available.Dotted with almost 40 lakes, the lakelands of East Clare have quality services and facilities for the angler whilst the unrivalled asset of Lough Derg and the Shannon waterway provide both game and coarse angling. Corofin is right at the heart of a lake-complex, which forms part of the Fergus headwaters and also offers excellent coarse and game fishing.
Sea angling: Boats can be chartered from: Kilrush Marina, Liscannor Bay, Miltown Malbay, Quilty and from many places along the Shannon Estuary including Killaloe, Portumna Mountshannon. One of the largest of the Shannon hire- cruiser enterprises is based at Doonbeg at the mouth of the Cooraclare or Doonbeg River, close to the beaches of Seafield, Lough Donnell and Quilty. All of these beaches provide good shore angling for pollock, bass and mackerel. Doolin is another good spot for shore angling.
The beaches of Clare are ideal for surfing and swimming, whilst scuba diving is available in Doolin and Kilkee.
Sea kyaking is available in Ballyvaughan whilst the activity centre in Kirush provides a wide range of equitment and tuition for the watersports enthusiast.Ireland's traditional preoccupation with horses and horseriding is particularly evident throughout the Shannon Region.
Trail riding and treking are available in several places around Co. Clare including Ennistymon, Doolin and Fanore. The wide-open spaces and hills are also ideal for cycling, with bike rental outlets in many towns including Ballyvaughan.There is nothing more refreshing and invigorating than a walk along the ocean, with the winds sweeping in from the Atlantic. Clare with its long and rugged coastline has a variety of uncrowded beaches or safe sandy coves for the walker. Kilkee and Lahinch are the two premier seaside resorts with magnificent golden beaches and numerous attractions to suit all ages. Bishop's Quarter at Ballyvaughan, Fanore, White Strand and Spanish Point are other main beaches. Continuing south along the Clare coast, in addition to Kilkee, Seafield at Quilty and the White Strands at Doonbeg are ideal for walking.The Aran Islands, one of the last outposts of Gaelic civilisation where Irish is still the spoken language, are ony 30 minutes by Ferry from Doolin. Ireland's only resident group of over 100 bottlenose dolphins live in the Shannon Estuary. The magnificent dolphins can be observed, on most days, feeding, travelling and playing. They can be viewed from the boats that undertake special tours and every encounter with the dolphins is different, determined by the dolphins themselves. Boats operate from Dolphin Watch, Carrigaholt Pier and Kilrush Creek Marina througout the summer. (The trips last approximately 2 hours.The Burren is a limestone karst region, internationally renowned for its geological features, archaeological remains and magnificent flora. The Burren Way never fails to captivate its visitors. The jagged terrain of this uniquely beautiful part of Ireland and the majestic Cliffs of Moher (views to the Aran Islands) are two of the delights of this wonderful ramble amongst hills and turloughs.The majestic Cliffs of Moher stand against the might of the Atlantic Ocean. O?Brien?s Tower is located on the highest cliff and is an exceptional viewing point. The Cliffs can be visited daily, year-round. O Brien?s tower open daily, March to October. Visitor centre open year round. Boat trips can be taken along the cliffs. Aillwee caves: Discovered by Jack McCann, a local farmer, in 1944, the 1000 feet long cave is one of the oldest of the Burren Caves having formed millions of years ago. Guided tours, lasting 30 minutes, allow you to observe beautiful caverns, bridged chasms, underground waterfalls, weird mineral formations and the hibernation chambers of brown bears which have been extinct in Ireland for centuries.
Facilities include a restaurant, craft shop, information desk and outside, 'The Hazelwood' crafts village. Bunrattie Castle Originally built in 1277 by Thomas de Clare, the Norman-Irish Castle was destroyed and rebuilt more than once in the centuries that followed. It was captured by the O'Brien in 1355 and remained their headquarters until 1712. The MacNamara's, a sept of the O'Briens erected its present form in 1460 but time took its toll upon the building until Viscount Gort bought it in 1954 and, with the aid of Bord Failte, had it restored by the Office of Public Works.
