This 4 bedroom house, built in 1824, is situated approximately 13km from Sarlat on a hill with wonderful views overlooking the Dordogne Valley. The house, set in three acres is surrounded by its own gardens, meadow and woodland. It is well positioned for those who want a peaceful holiday away from the crowds yet is close enough to enjoy a wide range of activities and convenient for visiting many places of interest.

The house has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 7/8 people in comfort. In addition to the huge traditional open fireplace there is electric heating for winter use. The walls are 600mm thick and this, along with shutters at all the windows, help keep the house cool in summer.

To ensure your stay is comfortable the house is furnished to a very high standard, using a mixture of English and French furniture. The range of crockery, glass, cutlery and cooking utensils is very generous. We have also included extra touches such as vases and candle lanterns. Bed linen and towels for the house are provided.

Sitting Room
French windows to front, seating for 9 on three comfortable sofas, a large traditional fireplace, rear window, beautiful wooden staircase to first floor. Television and DVD player, CD and tape player - please bring your own DVD’s and CD’s. Walnut chest with games and jigsaws.

Dining Room
French windows to front terrace, window to side, large French oak table, big enough to accommodate ten, antique dresser, door to kitchen.

Kitchen
Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, full size cooker, (bottled gas hob, electric oven), externally vented hood, large fridge and microwave oven.

Top loading washing machine.

First Floor
Bedroom 1. 5 foot double bed, window to front.
Bedroom 2. 5 foot double bed, window to front.
Bedroom 3 2 x 3 foot twin beds, window to rear.
Bedroom 4 3 foot single bed with pullout additional single bed, window to rear.

Bathroom 1 Large shower, toilet, bidet and handbasin
Bathroom 2 Small bath with shower, bidet and hand basin.

Outside
The fenced, 10 metre x 5metre swimming pool with curved Roman steps is automatically salt purified - kinder on the skin and eyes, it also has an automatic ph sensor so the water quality stays high.
There is a large barbeque on the rear terrace - a second terrace at the front of the house ensures you can always find shade. The ample fenced garden has beautiful mature trees, one with a swing. There is a badminton net and some children’s rackets along with other outside play equipment. The garden is well equipped with loungers and garden furniture.

The barn houses the freezer and second refrigerator. The woodland next to the barn is beautiful in all seasons. There are footpaths through the trees which can be followed to bring you to the bottom of the meadow. In both the meadow and garden there are a wide variety of fruit trees.

Sorry but pets cannot be accommodated. You are requested not to smoke in the house.

Local Area Details

Should you tire of lazing in the garden or swimming in the pool, there is plenty to do close by, we are within walking distance of the river, a shrine and Chateaux de Fenelon. Other activities include canoeing down the Dordogne, visiting the numerous chateaux, exploring the local grottos, viewing cave paintings, discovering the charms of the local towns and villages or simply sampling the delights of the local restaurants.
