Ile de Patiras is a private island situated in the Gironde estuary between Pauillac and Blaye. The island is inhabited only by the English owners a quarter of a mile from the gites. 19th C. vineyard estate buildings have recently been renovated to give three gites which retain many of the original features. The 10m long pool is situated in a walled courtyard alongside the old wine making vats. Each gite has a BBQ and garden with plenty of furniture for outdoor dining or sunbathing, as well as a modern kitchen and comfortable lounge with sofa bed. Perfect for families or anyone wanting to de-stress and completely isolated from traffic or strangers, there is plenty of space for ball games and we have added a new Adventure Playground for 2005. Gite d'Ile Cazeau has 2 huge bedrooms, the smaller being 20 sq.m. Sympathetically converted from an abandoned barn, we chose to leave the full sweep of the roof visible by creating a mezzanine bedroom upstairs, and leaving the main living accommodation open plan. Your rooms in Gite d'Ile Cazeau are enormous, with over 120 sq.m. of space, all newly renovated and refurbished. With cool tiled and wooden floors, traditional rustic thick stone walls and exposed beams, most of which were recycled from the original building, you will find this the ideal place to relax and enjoy a siesta out of the midday sun. Both bedrooms have comfortable double beds, and the ground floor room has an additional single bed.
Gite d'Ile Trompeloup has 4 bedrooms, original fireplaces, stone walls and terracotta tiled or wooden floors, and is an ideal holiday home for the larger family or group. Surrounded by gardens, a barbecue and plenty of garden furniture for al fresco dining, your gite also has the added advantage of opening directly onto the poolside! On the first floor is the enormous, luxury master bedroom with fireplace and en suite shower room, and two twin rooms. Another double room is on the ground floor as is the main bathroom. Cots are available by prior arrangement. Bed linen and towels are all provided. The living room has the original fireplace and enough comfortable chairs and sofas for everyone to relax.
Gite d'Ile Bouchaud has 3 bedrooms and was originally the house provided for the estate manager of the Chateau Trinite Valrose vineyard. With its high ceilings, stone floors and beautiful, wrought iron decorated windows, Gite d'Ile Bouchaud is your ideal holiday base. Your 15m long, garden has a barbecue area and plenty of garden furniture. Shaded by fig trees, it is the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, and one twin room. Cots are available by prior arrangement. Bed linen and towels are all provided so they needn't take up valuable space in your luggage. The 20 sq m. living room has a sofa bed and enough comfortable chairs for everyone to relax. All gites benefit from our DVD library of over 100 DVDs, our eclectic collection of books and some music CD's. The kitchens are newly fitted & supplied with everything we can imagine you would need for your stay.

Local Area Details

Ile de Patiras is situated in the Gironde, about 2km from either bank. it is the perfect place for you and your family to spend a week or two 'away from it all' with plenty of space for the kids to enjoy the kind of freedom not usually available to them. The island provides an isolated paradise where children can chase bugs, climb trees & run wild without traffic or neighbours to get in their way! You can relax completely, hearing nothing but birds & moving only to cool off in the pool. The island also boasts its very own vineyard, where Thiery proudly welcomes you to taste his exclusive wine and learn a little of how it is made. Pauillac is our nearest town, allowing exploration of the Medoc and its many chateaux. Bordeaux (and its airport) is about 45 minutes drive away. The sandy surf beaches of the Atlantic are about 30 minutes drive from Pauillac, as is Hourtin lake, offering water sports activities. For those arriving by car, Pauillac is around 6 hours from Caen or St Malo
