Casa Lucchese is a spacious Sicilian farmhouse located in a beautiful, breathtaking, rural location, approx 3 miles out of town and 6 miles from the best beaches. Access is along scenic private unmade driveway less than 1 mile long - worth every moment! The property covers some 10 acres and is surrounded by hectares of olive groves with sweeping views of the Sicilian hinterland. The area is extremely quiet and peaceful with stunning views of rolling countryside, remote enough that you rarely hear any noise but the sounds of birds singing. There are excellent walking opportunities in the hilly countryside (there are almost no fences here and the farmers encourage you to go where you like).

On the ground floor the main entrance of the house takes you directly into the open-plan living/dining area with stone fireplace. There is a fully equipped kitchen stocked with pots, pans, cutlery, glassware, coffee-pot, food processor, dishes, etc. The property is fully equipped for comfortable self catering, an excellent caliber of housekeeping (including linen, towels and blankets)is provided. It can sleep up to 11 and has an infant cot available. Computer with free internet access (DSL WI-FI), electric piano (Yamaha), satellite television, DVD player and sound system are provided. The lobby leads to a bathroom with shower, washing machine (clothes are line dried, of course) and ironing board. The downstairs area opens into the furnished terrace with stunning view over the small medieval Baglio di Lucchese.

The upstairs is under a sloping roof with exposed beams and floor boards. A flight of steps takes you on to a very large air-conditioned landing, converted in to a spacious study, and 3 double bedrooms with beautiful view over the valley below. A small lobby leads you to the bathroom (with tub). The property has free-standing fans and central heating.

H s. 1000 ; L.s. 800; August 1150 Euro / week for the house. Linen, towels, welcome basket, local taxes and electricity/gas bills, end-of-stay cleaning charge : 50 Euro.

Local Area Details

Sciacca is a fishing town situated on the famous archaeological road between Selinunte and Agrigento in Sicily, is one of the oldest towns in the island. Thermal spas, fishing, scuba diving, snorkelling, biking, trekking and artistic ceramic works. Boat trips can be taken from the harbour and there is a good beach 3kms out of town.
In addition to the beauty of an indented coastline, Sciacca has also a gentle healthy climate which makes it an ideal place for health cures, for holidays and for tourism.
Distance from most important sightseeing:
Palermo (~90 km), the Greek temple of Segesta (~85 Km), the Greek city of Selinunte and Eraclea Minoa with superb beaches (~30 Km), Agrigento (~60 Km), Trapani(~90 Km), Erice (~95 Km), the marine natural reserve of "Lo zingaro" (~85 Km) and the white sandy beach in San Vito Lo Capo (~90 Km).
Further afield are Piazza armerina (200km) The fabulous Roman mosaics of the Villa del Casale and Mount Etna (300km), are well worth the journey.
Another important point to remember: the nearby town of Caltabellotta (~20 km) an old village nestled on the flanks of the mountains at an altitude of 1,000 metres, the Matrice church, the Castello Mount and the Hermitage (13th century) with a stunning views over the coast and the valley for miles away.
