Family owned Villa Schuler was converted from a Sicilian villa into a hotel in 1905. In recent years the hotel has been extensively refurbished emphasizing its original elegance, charm and atmosphere. Superbly situated high above the Ionian Sea, its unique position offers stupendous views of snow-capped Mount Etna and the Bay of Naxos. Centrally located next to the delightful Botanical Gardens and just 2 minutes from Taormina’s famous traffic free “Corso Umberto�. The ancient Greek-Roman theatre and the cable car to the beaches are just a 10 minutes’ walk away. The hotel is surrounded by its own extensive, subtropical, shady terraced gardens, where the fragrance of jasmine and bougainvillea flowers blend into a heaven for guests seeking comfortable, romantic surroundings.

21 spacious rooms, 5 Junior Suites and 1 Garden Villa, all with individually controlled A/C, full bathroom, hairdryer, orthopaedic beds, radio, satellite TV, alarm clock, direct-dial telephone, electronic safe, sound-proofed doors, and double-glazing, most of them with sea view, furnished balcony, terrace or loggia. Junior Suites on our ground floor or on the top (3rd) floor, all with unstocked refrigerator, veranda/sitting area and terrace.

H O W T O G E T T H E R E

Taormina can be reached by road, train or airplane.

PLANE: nearest airports are Catania (CTA) 34 miles or Palermo (PMO) 160 miles.
From Catania airport the bus operator “Etna Trasporti� connects each hour to Taorminas bus terminal (70 minutes drive) between 7 a.m. and 9.45 pm. Or we can arrange a 50 minutes taxi-transfer to our hotel.

TRAIN: all major trains from northern Italy, starting in Milan or Roma with destination Syracuse or Agrigento, all stop at TAORMINA-GIARDINI. From here you will find taxis to the town centre and directly to our hotel (2,5 miles).

CAR, driving instructions (shortest way):
Coming from motorway A 18, Catania-Messina, exit at TAORMINA.
After having paid the toll follow the sign "Taormina" uphill for about 2 miles. Immediately after the multi-storey parking “Lumbi� turn right entering the tunnel “Monte Tauro/Porta Catania�(1.093 meters/3.586 ft). Exiting at Taormina’s south end drive uphill around the multi-storey parking “Porta Catania� till you reach a little square, Piazza Sant’Antonio. In front of you stands the medieval city-portal "Porta Catania" and, before it, the post-office to its right. Just before the post-office you have again the white hotel signs. Take the one-way road down to the right from the post office and follow it for about 1/4 mile till you will reach the panoramic "Via Roma". From there it's just one more quarter mile to the "Villa Schuler".
In front of the hotel there is a small public parking and also our private parking (yellow lines) and our garages.

CAR, driving instructions (through the historic centre):
Coming from motorway A 18, Catania-Messina, exit at TAORMINA.
After having paid the toll follow the sign "Taormina" uphill for about 2 miles. After passing in front of the multi-storey parking “Lumbi� and it’s tunnel “Monte Tauro/Porta Catania�, drive further uphill watching for the first of the white hotel-signs. Once in front of the city-portal „Porta Messina“ (beginning of the pedestrian Main Street “Corso Umberto�), turn right uphill and follow the „Via Circonvallazione“, the circular road around Taormina.
After about 1/2 mile, once in front of the Hotel Mediterannée, take the road down to your left.
After about another 1/2 mile you will reach a little square, Piazza Sant’Antonio. On your left you will see the other city-portal "Porta Catania" and, before it, the post-office to the right. Just before the post-office you have again the white hotel signs. Take the one-way road down to the right from the post office and follow it for about 1/4 mile till you will reach the panoramic "Via Roma". From there it's just one more quarter mile to the "Villa Schuler".
In front of the hotel there is a small public parking and also our private parking (yellow lines) and our garages.

P A R K I N G I N T A O R M I N A
is a problem. The limited number of outdoor parkings is of 2 kinds:
White lines: only for residents and hotel clients with parking permit.
Blue lines: for all cars (no parking permit needed) for approx. 1,00 Euro per hour (parking meter).*

Parking in the town centre:

1 ) HOTEL GARAGE: if you prefer a guaranteed parking you can reserve a garage space in our hotel garage, open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with valet parking for 14,00 Euro per day.
Vans need 2 spaces.

2 ) PARKING FOR HOTEL CLIENTS: in front of our hotel we do have a public parking (white lines for residents) and also 2 parking spaces for hotel clients (yellow lines). These 2 parkings are free of charge but cannot be reserved: first come first served. No liability. The car-key has to be left at the reception.

If this 2 spaces are taken you can use the following alternatives:

3 ) PUBLIC PARKING IN FRONT OF OUR HOTEL (white lines for residents). Please note that on this as on all other white-lines parkings in town you need a parking permit “PASS�. Our hotel has been assigned with 2 parking permits that we lend on availability.

Other alternatives are:

4 ) GARAGE “CALIFORNIA�: 200 mt/220 yards from our hotel for 14,00-16,00 Euro per day*, depending on the size of the car.

5 ) PARKINGS “Bus Terminal� and at the beginning of “Via Roma�: (blue lines) for all cars (no parking permit needed) for approx. 1,00 Euro per hour (parking meter).*

Two municipal multi-storey car parkings:

6 ) PARKING “LUMBI“: just before the town entrance (north) coming from the Highway A 18 (Catania-Messina) exit “Taormina� and drive uphill 2 miles. Parking fees 14,00 Euro* per day. The rate includes the shuttle-service (Linea „Porta Messina“, orange busses) from this car park to the town entrance, the „Porta Messina“ city portal.* A second bus line, „linea circolare“ (orange busses) makes the whole circular road around the town, stopping directly in front of our Hotel for 0,50 Euro*.

7) PARKING “PORTA CATANIA�: just before the town entrance (south) coming from from 2 directions:
- coming from the Highway A 18 (Catania-Messina) exit “Taormina�, reach the parking “Lumbi� and take the tunnel from there connecting the two multistorey-parkings.
- or arriving from Giardini-Naxos following the signs for the “Sirina� Hospital uphill. Cost 14,00 Euro per day*.
