« Le Moulin »(« the Mill ») is a 3 stars campsite in Martres-Tolosane, the « holiday green city » and a typical medieval village. It stands on ancient and delightful surroundings of the Garonne river, about 1.5 km from the village; it’s therefore very quiet. It also complies with the "Camping Qualité" and the "Sites et Paysages" labels.

The campsite itself is borded on one side by a stream and on the other side by the old mill canal. Nevertheless the campsite is not in a zone liable to flooding.

Slightly apart from the campsite can be found 7 fully equipped wooden chalets in the middle of some oak trees. These chalets offer to the holidaymakers a beautiful view upon the foothills of the Pyrénées. There are also some mobile homes set on big parcels.

This woody countryside property covers more than 10 ha. It is edged by the Garonne river and its wild « island » where it’s nice to walk along them in peace.

You can fish roach, pike and trout in the campsite itself, and for those whom fishing is a passion they are also other areas in the near vicinities where fishes are abundant.



Equipment and services

Entertainment are every day proposed by a professional compere : dance parties, competition of “petanque� (French game of bowls), tennis tournaments, disco for teenagers in the evening, water games and games for children, etc..

1 - A large swimming pool (22x9 wide and 2.30m deep) and a paddling pool (10x5).
Note : these ground installations are not controlled.
2 - A tennis ground built according to the professional norms with a drained and porous concrete (entrance fee or ticket season).
3 - Indoor games: table tennis, pin-ball machines, pool, baby-foot and electronic games.
4 - A new restored (year 2000) meeting room, parlour games, television set, a pool-table...
5 -Outside games ground built with professional norms with slide, swings, rock climbing, volley-ball, badminton.
6 - A volley ball ground.
7 - A lighted bowls ground.
8 - A basket-ball ground.
9 - A stunt bike track (possibility of renting bikes).
10 - A library with about 500 books (some foreign books).
11 - A bar with refreshments, draught beers and ice creams.
12 - A snack bar opened in the evening.
13 - A baker delivers bread at the campsite 6 days a week and a little grocery for basic goods.

Local Area Details

Entertainment outside the campsite

In Martres-Tolosane (1.5km):
- public swimming pool (2 pools),
- tennis grounds (2 outdoor, 1 indoor),
- disco.
- riding school: horse renting, ring, riding classes,
- walks and riding are signposted through the wood.

In Cazères (6 km):
- a nautical base with canoes and kayaks for rent,
- mountain cycling ride.

In Arbas (30 km):
- speleology
- hang-gliding
- para-gliding, initiation with instructor, first flight.

Touristic attractions in the area
- The campsite stands on the place of a very important gallo-roman Villa called Chiragan. The discovered rescued relics can be seen in the Saint-Raymond Museum in Toulouse.
- In Martres-Tolosane: the earthenware factories: well known and appreciated abroad, they are handmade according to ancient techniques by the local craftsmen. The village is a former Middle-Age walled town.
- Aurignac (10 km): Mecca of prehistory, this little town gave its name to a Palaeolithic period (la période Aurignacienne).
- Rieux-Volvestre (15 km): charming medieval village (this village has been used for the making of many films).
- Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges and Valcabrère (40 km): magnificent abbey-church where you can listen to evening concerts of classical music included in the festival activities of the
Comminges area (Bach, Beethoven, etc..).
- Gargas, Niaux, Mas d’Azil, etc..: several famous caves .
- Toulouse (60 km): known as the « Rose-coloured Town », impregnated with its rich occitan past but resolutely turned toward the future (aeronautics, latest technologies, research centre, etc..)
- Les Pyrénées (60km): for the mountains lovers, they give a quick way through to Spain (80 km) where the Garonne river has its source. You can go for hikes, cross country cycling down the ski slopes and walk around the natural reserves.
- Luchon (60 km): « Pearl of the Pyrénées », famous for its water -cure and environment.
- Foix (80 km): the castle of Gaston Foebus and Montsegur (130 km) an ancient Cathare site.
- Lourdes (100 km): day excursions to the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and Cirque de Gavarnie (splendid panoramas).
- Andorre (150 km): the famous free-tax shopping centre in high mountains.
- Gers, Tarn, Ariège: don’t miss to visit these delightful bordering provinces, the Gascons, the town of Albi (Toulouse-Lautrec Museum,..), Cordes-sur-Ciel (the only gothic town of its kind) or go to the typical market of Saint-Girons.
- Don’t miss the many gastronomic stop over of this region of good living ; it’s not without good reason that this area was, once upon the time, called « Pays de Cocagne » (land of plenty).
