Property Details
Le Batut is a 100-year-old stone farmhouse set in six acres of gardens and woodland. Standing on a plateau at the end of a lane outside a small Tarn village, it boasts wonderful views over surrounding vineyards, sunflower fields and woodlands.
Accommodation comprises, on the ground floor, dining room\study, fully equipped farmhouse kitchen, huge oak-beamed living room with TV and video, plus library of over 100 films, WC\utility room with washing machine, and double bedroom with en suite WC\shower-room. On the first floor, a double bedroom, third bedroom with two single and two bunk beds plus bathroom. The house is centrally heated, with two log-burning stoves, and has a 15-metre swimming pool.
Local Area DetailsSet in the Tarn’s “Golden Triangle�, Le Batut is five minutes drive from the spectacular medieval bastide town of Cordes-sur-Ciel, 15-20 minutes from Albi and Gaillac and an hour from Toulouse and its airport. Carcassonne, with its medieval walled city, the Canal du Midi and airport, is 1-1/2 hours.
Local amenities and activities include canoeing\kayaking in the Aveyron and Tarn gorges, tennis, golf, horseriding and a water sports park, plus many good restaurants within easy reach and colourful weekly markets in Cordes and St Antonin Noble-Val.
There are many good vineyards nearby, where visitors can sample the excellent Gaillac wines before buying, and a wine festival in early August in Gaillac. Cordes also has a theatre, the Jardin du Paradis and a medieval festival and market around the 14 July holiday.
