THE COTTAGE, which is over 250 years old, has recently modernised accommodation: a large entrance porch, a comfortable sitting room, a well equipped dining kitchen with oak units, built-in electric oven and hob, micro-wave, fridge, auto washing machine, kettle, toaster and all cutlery and crockery provided. The bedroom has a pine double bed and pine furniture. The large bathroom has a bath and shower. There is colour TV and a telephone for incoming calls. A cot and high chair are available. It is situated adjoining our house on the village green, one of the largest in England.
ALDBROUGH ST JOHN is a beautiful Dales village of old period houses surrounding a village green, through which runs a stream. The village has a very good pub and excellent restaurant, a village Post Office, church and regular bus service to local towns.

Local Area Details

THE AREA is wonderful for those interested in walking or touring. The cottage is within 7 miles of the old market town of Richmond, the Dales and Herriot Country. The North Yorkshire Moors, the East Coast and the Lake District are less than an hour away. There are stately homes, abbeys, priories and the cathedrals of Durham and Ripon within easy drive. We provide books, brochures and advice on where to visit, eat and/or walk. There is easy access to a variety of sports facilities: the Dolphin Centre, Darlington's large sports complex, golf courses, riding stables and tennis courts.
