Property Details
Royan is in the South West of France, on the Atlantic Coast. More precisely Royan is on the estuary of the river Gironde, about 100 kms from Bordeaux, 60 kms south to La Rochelle. The region is blessed with a lot of sunshine, sandy beaches and is still rather "authentic" in comparison with the French Riviera.
The Villa is an old one, built circa 1900, owned by our family since then. We still use it for family holidays, or weekends during the year.
It's really facing the sea and the beach, as the different pictures on our website can "tell". It offers 5 bedrooms, sleeps about 10 and is rented as a whole for a family or friends.
Local Area Details
There is a lot to do in Royan and in the region of Poitou Charentes. The Port is nearby, and you can rent sailboats or other seasports equipment, or head there in the evening at sunset, a lovely 15-minute walk to a restaurant.The boulevard de la Côte d'Argent offers a nice walkway from Plage du Chay (Chay Beach) to plage de Pontaillac. On this walkway, opposite the house is a stairway in the rocks which goes down to the small beach
It is a really nice Golf Club with an interesting course - long, and set amidst a forest of pines by the sea. The fairways are on the natural dunes, and offer beautiful views: in the distance the lighthouse of Cordouan, and closer than that the Coubre lighthouse. A very interesting compact 6 holes for practice, a warm and welcoming club house with a good restaurant.
