Local Area DetailsBallyvolane House Originally built in 1728, Ballyvolane was remodelled in Italianate style. Surrounded by woodlands, extensive gardens and parkland with its trout lakes, the house has a charming, peaceful atmosphere. A fine pillared hall features a Bluthner baby grand piano.
All rooms have stunning views over the gardens. Ballyvolane has over 6 miles of privately-managed salmon fishing on the renowned River Blackwater, with a wide variety of spring and summer beats.
The beautiful Blackwater Valley, with its many gardens and historic sites, is well worth visiting. Blarney Castle, Cobh, Cork City, Fota Arboretum and Wildlife Park, Killarney, Kilkenny, Kinsale, Lismore, the Ring of Kerry, The Rock of Cashel, Swiss Cottage and Waterford Crystal can all be visited from Ballyvolane. Sea fishing, beaches, riding, hill-walking and 23 golf courses are all within an hour's drive.
