The sitting room
The main room of the open-plan barn has a high, wood-lined, vaulted ceiling, multi-fuel stove and lots of light. It has lovely acoustics for musicians and the roof windows make it particularly suitable for artists.
There is a single divan bed and a sofa that converts into a double bed for those who prefer to sleep downstairs instead of in the sleeping gallery (see below).
The kitchen
The kitchen is well-stocked with good quality equipment. It also has fridge, electric cooker, microwave, toaster and electric kettle. Everything, in fact, for those who love to cook.
The Shower Room
The shower room contains an electric
shower, toilet and wash hand basin.
The Sleeping Gallery
The sleeping gallery contains two single beds and drawer storage for your clothes. The roof window can be opened for fresh air and lets in the early morning sunshine when the blind is open.

Local Area Details

Traditional music sessions
We came to this part of the country because of our love of the music. We live just across the valley from the home of the renowned fiddle player, Martin Hayes. The world famous Tulla Ceili Band was founded by Martin's father, P.J. Hayes who still lives in the family farmhouse. P.J regularly plays in sessions and with the Tulla Band at ceilis. If you want to listen to this fine music, or if you want to play in a session then we can probably organise something. We usually play out ourselves on one or two nights per week (you can only take so much Guinness when you're living here all the time) but you can visit sessions on seven nights of the week if your body can handle it!

Spectacular, vertigo-inducing cliffs with views across Galway Bay to the Aran Islands and Connemara. In spring the cliffs are a cacophony of bird sound as every shelf and cranny is used by the thousands of sea birds for nesting. Visitor centre and café.
The Aran Islands
Take a day-trip out to the Aran Islands from Doolin in West Clare. You can visit all three islands for a memorable experience. Bunratty Folk Park
Enjoy a traditional Irish feast at Bunratty Castle or visit the museum with loads of interesting stuff to see and do.

Lough Derg
Lough Derg is a vast area of island-dotted water offering a variety of recreation activities. There's boat hire, guided boat trips, fishing and more active watersports. The River Shannon enters Lough Derg at Portumna, County Galway where there is a country park, golf course and many pubs and restaurants. The river leaves Lough Derg at Killaloe/Ballina, a popular and very pretty part of the river's attractions.
Golf/pitch and put
East Clare Golf Club, approximately 7 miles away, is a new championship course set amidst beautiful countryside. There are other golf courses and pitch and put in the locality.
Horse riding
Trek up into the hills overlooking Lough Derg for fabulous views. There are also several equestrian centres in the area.
