A large spacious thatched farmhouse, which is a Grade II listed 16th century traditional Devon Longhouse, with open beamed rooms and heated Cotswold stone floors on the ground floor.

Upstairs there are three en-suite double bedrooms and one twin room en-suite. All bedrooms have window seats with river views. Furnished with Antiques and the wooden floors are also graced with antique rugs.


The lounge has an open fire, a bathroom off it and a small bar. The dining room (right) has a cosy wood-burning stove and can seat up to 22 people. Catering Available.


The farmhouse-style kitchen with oil fired Stanley Range, electric cooker, terracotta-tiled floor and a door to the South-facing garden is equipped with all modern appliances.

We can also arrange corporate or family events where the whole of the accommodation (Longhouse & 4 cottages, see The Coach House add on this website) is let to a single party with in-house catering arranged. Dogs are welcome with well-behaved owners!

Deep in rural Devon, in a lovely riverside setting, Hayrish Farm enjoys a beautifully peaceful location just 10 minutes drive from glorious Dartmoor and only 30 minutes drive from the cathedral city of Exeter a wonderfully relaxing base for a holiday.

The setting is a 186-acre beef and game farm with a pedigree Aberdeen Angus herd. There is fly fishing on a private lake. Salmon, sea Trout and brown Trout fishing can also be enjoyed on our own beats of the River Taw at Umberleigh. Game and clay pigeon shooting, (inc. simulated game) and archery are available on the farm and also at our 500 acre Dowland estate.

Horse riding lessons can be arranged nearby, but for those who prefer more leisurely exercise, there are extensive footpaths to explore unspoilt countryside.
